November 2010

For THANKSGIVING we will be looking for donations of store-bought pies (we can’t give out any homemade items). We expect about 165 clients this year. If you are a member of a group or organization that could commit to donating pies, please let us know how many by calling Carol at 781-828-1944, or emailing carol@thevolpes.com. Pies can be dropped off at the pantry located in the rear of the Rodman Building at Canton High School on Friday Nov. 19 from 2:00 to 3:30pm. Also, St. Gerard’s church is collecting pies from 9:00am to 4:00pm on Friday Nov. 19.

If just half of the people(259) reading this email would drop off a pie or two, that would be terrific!

This month we will also need STUFFING, GRAVY (cans or powdered mix), and CORN MUFFIN and QUICKBREAD (cranberry, pumpkin, etc) MIXES.

Items may be dropped off at the following locations:
Canton Food Pantry, 960R Washington St., (rear of Rodman Building) most Mondays 7-9am, and every Tues. 8:30-9am
Canton Co-Operative Bank, 671 Washington St., Mon-Fri 9am-5pm
Bank of Canton, 557 Washington St., Mon - Fri 9am-5pm
Canton Public Library, 786 Washington St., Mon 1-9pm, Tues-Thurs 9:30am-9:00pm
Pratt Realtors, Inc., 1475 Washington St., Daily 7am-5pm

One last thing, we are still looking for individuals or companies that have a BOX TRUCK that could hold 4 pallets. It would be great if the truck bed is chest high so that the pallets of food can be driven on right from the loading dock at the Boston Food Bank. It takes about 2 hours, start to finish, and we are hoping to find several companies that could make the pickup with us every few months, so that no one company or individual is over-burdened.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING! THANK YOU FOR HELPING US!

October 2010

This post is longer than usual because we have lots of items to discuss...1)request for grocery cards, 2)usual monthly requests, 3)truck borrowing, 4)Thanksgiving pies.

We are currently serving 364 clients. Once in awhile we come across a special situation and try to provide a client with a grocery shopping card, usually $10, $15, $20, $25, depending on what we have. If you would like to help us with this, just buy a grocery card (all denominations are welcome) at a local supermarket and drop it off at the pantry on Mondays, or anytime at Pratt Realtors. Or you may mail to Canton Food Pantry, c/o Canton Area Helpline, PO Box 202, Canton, MA 02021.

This month we are asking for donations of
SOAP, TOOTHPASTE, SHAMPOO, LAUNDRY DETERGENT (any brand)
JELLO, JUICE, PASTA SAUCE, CEREAL
MEALS IN A CAN (like Spaghettios, Ravioli, Beef Stew
and HALLOWEEN CANDY FOR OUR CLIENTS TO GIVE TO TRICK-OR-TREATERS

Items may be dropped off at the following locations:
Canton Food Pantry, 960R Washington St., (rear of Rodman Building) most Mondays 7-9am, and every Tues. 8:30-9am
Canton Co-Operative Bank, 671 Washington St., Mon-Fri 9am-5pm

Canton Public Library, 786 Washington St., Mon 1-9pm, Tues-Thurs 9:30am-9:00pm
Pratt Realtors, Inc., 1475 Washington St., Daily 7am-5pm

Also, we go in to the Boston Food Bank for a pickup once or twice a month. We are looking for individuals or companies that have a box truck that could hold 4 pallets. It would be great if the truck bed is chest high so that the pallets of food can be driven on right from the loading dock. It takes about 2 hours, start to finish, and we are hoping to find several companies that could make the pickup with us every other month, so that no one company or idndividual is over-burdened.

Looking ahead to Thanksgiving, we will be looking for donations of store-bought pies (we can't give out any home made items). We typically give out 125 or more. If you are a member of a group or organixzation that could commit to donating a number of pies, please let us know how many be emailing carol@thevolpes.com. Pies need to be delivered Friday Nov. 19 to the pantry.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
